The first week of September a group of 30 Magnet members have visited the beautiful city Krakow in Poland. A five days trip of inspiring company visits, workshops, getting to know other Magnet members and immersing in another culture.
The objective for the trip was to learn and find out more about ‘Is circular economy a game changer in the steel industry? If so, does Tata Steel need to play a leading role?’
The first day we visited Vesuvius, a supplier of refractory materials. The second day we had an interesting workshop of McKinsey&Company about sustainability and linked to the theme of those days. After the workshop we visited the press shop of Fiat. The third day we visited Blachprofil 2, this company delivers steel sheets with different structures for the building industry.
We’ve seen a construction site where we could take a look at the applied products from Blachprofil. Another interesting site we visited is a scrap company, called TSR. The circumstances at a scrap yard in Poland is a little bit different then in the Netherlands.
In the evening we had delicious dinners together in the city. After 5 days most persons of the group were sure they increased the amount of protein in their body because of all the meat they consumed.
At the end of the week we visited Auswitch, really impressive. At Saturday the Saltmines was a possibility to visit and some sightseeing in Krakow. This trip was for me a really nice experience. To meet young colleagues from different departments and backgrounds, and share thoughts about the theme of the trip from different perspectives. A special value for me was oing those things in another country and culture.
